Pets of the Terminally Ill

Many of the terminally ill have an added burdend worried about what will happen to their pets after they pass on. For many of these people, their pets are sometimes all the family they have. So naturally they would want to make certain that someone out there would give the care they will ultimately need.

Recently, hospitals are coming to the rescue starting up programs called Pet Peace of Mind. They are keeping pets of the terminally ill from ending up in the pound and many times "passing on" themselves. Hospice of San Luis Obispo started its own program as recently as June of the year.

Hospice of San Luis Obispo can have the pets part of the death experience. A lot of times, parents are outliving their own children and ultimately look towards a pet to replace them. These pets could have been in the life of the terminally ill for a long time. They can be a huge part of their family.

Workers at hospice can take care of any pet of the terminally ill. They take care of them in keeping them clean and exercising if indicated. Plus, finding homes for the pets and keeping them out of the pound.
