FOOTHILL BOULEVARD IMPROVEMENTS WITH MEASURE Y FUNDS
Public Works Department to Upgrade Street Surface and Curb Ramps
The City of San Luis Obispo Public Works Department will begin the Street Reconstruction for Foothill Boulevard on October 27, 2011 (weather permitting). Construction will take place on Foothill Boulevard, from Ferrini Street to Santa Rosa Street, and is scheduled to continue through the beginning of November (weather permitting).
Working hours for this project will be Monday through Friday, 7 PM to 7 AM. Businesses will remain open near the construction areas; however, construction will result in road closures and traffic detours. For the duration of this project, drivers should consider road closures and alternative routes to respective destinations; please expect delays during construction and slower traffic in construction zones.
In addition to the street surface improvements, construction to continue improving curb ramps for better accessibility began September 12, 2011 and is estimated to be completed at the end of October. Normal working hours for this project
are Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. There will be curb deviations, as well as lane closures near construction areas.
This project is 96% funded by Measure Y—the half-cent sales tax approved by City residents to help support major City-wide improvements. The Project Manager is Public Works Engineer, Manny Guzman. Public Works Engineering Inspector, Doug Nelms will oversee all Street Reconstruction and concrete work performed by the Contractor, Papich Construction Company, Inc.
